Born in Boston, professor Constance Bartlett Hieatt was a medievalist who specialized in writings in Old English and Old Norse, but was perhaps better known for her work on medieval cookery.

She and professor A. Kent Hieatt met at Columbia and were married. They went on to become full professors at the University of Western Ontario.
