Lilian Moore
(1909 - 2004)
Lilian Moore was born Lilian Levenson in the Bronx in 1909 to Yiddish-speaking immigrants from Russia. She graduated from Hunter College in 1930.
She became a writer of books for children, a poet and an editor. She helped make children’s books more affordable and worked to combat racial stereotypes in children’s literature,
