Ann Durell was born in Belleplain, New Jersey. She graduated Mount Holyoke College in 1952. She was the Editor-in-chief of the Junior Literary Guild from 1960-1962, and the children’s book editor of Holt, Rinehart & Winston from 1962-1969.
