Born of parents from South Carolina in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, after an education at Princeton and Trinity College Cambridge, James Boyd served in the Army Amulance Service in World War I. He retired to his grandfather’s house in Southern Pines, North Carolina where he wrote historical novels.
