Stanley Featherstonehaugh Ukridge makes his first appearance in this novel. He persuades his friend Jeremy Garnet, an Old Wrykynian, to join him and his wife in a chicken ranch. Jeremy meets Phyllis Derrick on the train to Lyme Regis and sets out to win her. Wodehouse rewrote the book and it was re-published in 1921. Read online at archive.org.
