George Plimpton began his career by being expelled from Phillips Exeter Academy. He went on to earn degrees from Harvard and King’s College Cambridge. He was an early editor of the Paris Review where he met William Pene du Bois. He later won fame writing about his experiences as an amateur playing with professional sportsmen.
