Richard Atwater
(1892 - 1948)
Richard Atwater was a professor of classics at the University of Chicago who, along with his wife Florence wrote “Mr. Popper’s Penguins.” It went on to win both a Newbery Honor award and the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award.
