STARTING OUR LIST
Our founder maintains a large collection of children's literature. He has thousands of books. They are a highly-curated collection of his favorite works from a lifetime of collecting.
They are works of conspicuous excellence.
For this website, our first step was to index all those thousands of books from his private collection. We entered the data for those works into our software. We did it manually.
This was a massive undertaking. It was a labor of love that spanned many years.
EXPANDING OUR LIST
Indexing those thousands of works from the private collection of our founder proved to be a rock-solid foundation.
Then we expanded upon that foundation. We added books that are related to those thousands.
We entered the data for those works into our software. Again we did it manually.
This too was a massive undertaking. It was another labor of love. It spanned many more years.
We added the full Bibliography of outstanding Authors
All of these initial books were written by great authors. But some were written by truly outstanding authors.
For those truly outstanding authors, we added their entire bibliography. All their books.
We now list all the books by the top 2,100 authors in children's literature.

We added the full Bibliography of outstanding Illustrators
Many of these initial books included artwork by great illustrators. But some included artwork by truly outstanding illustrators.
For those truly outstanding illustrators, we added their entire bibliography. All their books.
We now list all the books by the top 1,000 illustrators in children's literature.

We added Editions
Some of those initial books were printed in different Editions.

We identified the top seven Awards in children's literature. Then we added every book that won an Award from the top seven.
We now list every book that won any of the top seven Awards.
