Kathryn Jackson

Kathryn Jackson was an author and editor. She wrote hundreds of stories for Golden Books.
More than fifty of those were co-authored with her husband Byron, including The Saggy Baggy Elephant, Pirates, Ships, and Sailors, and Tawny Scrawny Lion.

Tenggren’s Pirates, Ships, and Sailors (1971)
The first edition includes forty-two stories, poems and songs. Later editions like this one had only twenty-six or even twenty-four as in the 2006 edition. They all have to do with the sea and sailors.

The Tawny Scrawny lion is always hungry from chasing other animals to eat. When he gets a taste of carrot stew cooked by ten fat rabbits, he finally has his fill. Later editions have fewer pages.
