Lowell Thomas
(1892 - 1981)
Starting as a teacher of oratory, Lowell Thomas became a producer of travelogues. During World War I he made a movie about T.E. Lawrence which was immensely popular and ensured Lawrence’s lasting fame. He went on to narrate Movietone newsreels, and became a broadcaster for CBS and NBC Radio. He hosted the first television news broadcast in 1939. He was a prolific author of biography, history and travel books.
